In The Old Ago
This project showcases my design work for In The Ould Ago – Illustrated Irish Folklore, a richly detailed visual record of Fermanagh’s cultural heritage created by Johnny McKeagney. My role focused on presenting his intricate hand‑drawn illustrations, maps, and historical notes with clarity, balance, and respect for the book’s archival spirit.
I structured each page to enhance readability while preserving the authenticity of Johnny’s sketches and storytelling. The book itself explores traditional crafts, rural life, townlands, folklore, and personal histories gathered over decades of fieldwork.
Through careful layout, typography, and visual organisation, my design aims to honour the depth, humour, and humanity embedded in this remarkable collection.
