Shadowing Miss Grimshaw
As the designer of Shadowing Miss Grimshaw, I wanted the visual identity of this book to reflect the extraordinary, parallel lives of its subject and author. My work focuses on capturing the spirit of adventure that links Beatrice Ethel Grimshaw, a pioneering Victorian traveler, with Diana Gleadhill, who retraced her steps a century later. I utilized evocative maps and vibrant imagery to mirror their shared journey from the shores of Ireland to the remote reaches of the South Pacific and Papua New Guinea.

The design aims to balance historical depth with modern curiosity, honoring Beatrice’s legacy as a prolific writer while highlighting Diana’s spirited contemporary exploration of those same exotic landscapes.
